Susan Bordenkircher lives in Daphne, Alabama with her husband, Greg and their two sons. Susan’s lifelong commitment to health and fitness led her to achieve certification as a fitness instructor in 1996. Since then she has taught classes ranging from step and kick boxing to body sculpting. She fell in love with yoga after attending a national yoga workshop.

Susan is now a yoga instructor, certified in mind/body fitness through the Deep South Alliance. She continues to develop her practice through workshops, seminars and self-study. Susan began teaching power yoga in 2000. The following year, she developed a unique class that combined the disciplines of yoga with her own Christian faith; the class is entitled Outstretched in Worship. Susan took a bold and novel approach by combining a routine of hatha yoga stretches and poses with Christian meditations.

Due to popularity of the class, Susan made the decision to develop a Christian yoga video series, also entitled Outstretched in Worship, in the spring of 2002. The series is receiving a tremendous response nationally. It uniquely taps in to the physical and psychological healing benefits of yoga while instructing students to “quiet the mind” and “come to God with no baggage.”

In 2002 the Deep South Alliance of Fitness Professionals chose Susan to represent them as Instructor of the Year, recognizing the innovative way she combined an existing fitness practice with something new. She was also recognized in 2003 by the United Methodist Conference as a Denman award winner for her efforts at evangelism.

“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Susan Bordenkircher lives in Daphne, Alabama with her husband, Greg and their two sons.
